Computational Thinking (CT) Certification Training with Koenig Solutions

Course Overview

What is Computational Thinking (CT)?

Computational Thinking (CT) is a problem-solving methodology developed and promoted by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) to enable individuals to tackle complex challenges using strategies inherent to computer science. It sits at the foundation of digital literacy and cross-disciplinary innovation, forming a core component of modern educational frameworks. The methodology comprises key practices including decomposition, breaking problems into manageable parts; data analysis and pattern recognition, identifying trends and organizing information; abstraction, focusing on relevant details while filtering out noise; algorithm design, creating step-by-step solutions; and automation, leveraging computational tools to execute processes efficiently. These components are applied across domains to model systems, optimize decisions, and innovate solutions. Computational Thinking is for educators, students, and professionals across disciplines who seek to solve open-ended, real-world problems with structured, logical approaches. It empowers learners to navigate complexity, persist through challenges, and apply scalable problem-solving strategies in academic, professional, and everyday contexts.

Got Questions? We've Got Answers.

Everything you need to know about Computational Thinking (CT) certification training with Koenig Solutions.

Computational Thinking (CT) is a problem-solving process that involves formulating problems to be solved using computing tools, logically organizing data, and automating solutions through algorithmic thinking. Its core components include decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, algorithm design, and data analysis. These skills enable efficient, scalable solutions across disciplines.
Computational Thinking training is designed for students, educators, entry-level IT professionals, and non-technical learners seeking structured problem-solving skills. No prior coding experience is required, but learners should have basic digital literacy. The training serves beginners and intermediate learners aiming to build foundational logic and analytical abilities.
Learners should have basic computer literacy, familiarity with digital tools like spreadsheets, and the ability to follow step-by-step instructions. While no programming background is required, Pearson recommends approximately 150 hours of prior exposure to logical reasoning or problem-solving activities for optimal exam readiness.
The training prepares for the IT Specialist: Computational Thinking (ITS-CompThink) certification by Certiport and Pearson. It covers foundational concepts, data collection, abstraction, problem decomposition, algorithm design, and solution automation. The exam aligns with ISTE standards and validates core CT competencies for real-world problem solving.
The ITS-CompThink exam consists of approximately 48 questions in multiple-choice, matching, drag-and-drop, and scenario-based formats. Candidates have 50 minutes to complete the test, with a passing score of 700 out of 1000 (70%). Results are displayed immediately upon submission.
Koenig’s Computational Thinking training typically spans 32 hours over four days, delivered via live online, classroom, 1-on-1, Flexi self-paced, or Fly-Me-A-Trainer (FMAT) formats. All include official courseware, hands-on labs, and exam prep. Guaranteed-to-run dates and flexible scheduling are available.
